DERRICKHAND - Experienced

Alberta

 

Description

The Derrickhand is responsible for all work above the drill floor; monitoring and maintaining proper drilling fluid characteristics, the rate of fluid circulation, mud handling equipment and the preventative maintenance program. Safety is the first priority for all drilling rig personnel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·         Learn and adhere to the Company’s Safety Program and government safety regulations

·         Support and promote to all employees the Company’s Policies, Procedures and Safety Programs

·         Assist Driller with equipment maintenance specifically related to the circulating system

·         Observe and maintain proper drilling fluid characteristics and mud handling

·         Operate and maintain drilling fluid systems and pumps during drilling

·         Work on or above the drilling floor, guide drill pipe during tripping process

·         Set an example to fellow employees by adhering to all safe work practices and policies. Train new crew members to do the same.

·         Ensure usage of proper safety equipment

·         Ability to comply with company guidelines and work in a safe manner

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

·         Ability to work safely and plan ahead

·         Leadership skills

·         Ability to work in a team setting

·         Strong communication skills

·         Good organizational skills

·         Mechanical aptitude

Education and Experience

·         Rig Technician Level 2 (Registered and/or progressing in Rig Tech Apprenticeship Program)

Certifications

MUST Possess Current/Valid:

·         Rig Technician Level 2 (Registered and/or progressing in the Rig Tech Apprenticeship Program)

·         Enform H2S Alive Certification

·         Fall Protection for Rig Work Enform Certification

·         Rig Rescue Enform Certification

·         Standard First Aid/CPR Certification

·         Confined Space Entry and Rescue Certification

·         EGSO

Special Conditions of Employment

·         Require valid drivers’ licence and vehicle

·         Responsible for own transportation to and from worksite each day

·         Ability to financially sustain lodging/meals in non-camp situations

·         Must be able to complete and successfully pass a Pre-Employment Physical ( This will be arranged by CWC Ironhand Drilling)

·         Must be able to complete a Pre-Employment drug test. (This test will be arranged by CWC Ironhand Drilling)

·         Ability to work outside in Extreme weather conditions such as rain, heat/cold, and exposure to loud noises

·         Ability to work in face paced/repetitious environment
